Back when our troops weren't stretched

I attended the 1997 Boy Scout National Jamboree.

Think 40,000 boy scouts camping out on a military base near DC (up to 120k during special events). Trading patches, climbing walls, watching demos of well-trained military dogs (holy shit that was crazy).

Boy Scouts like to think they're more badass than they are. A group of kids snuck off into the woods to explore the base.

No. They didn't make it past the crew of Army Rangers assigned to defend the barracks. Rumor had it they were pinned to the ground and cuffed before they even realized they'd been discovered.
