Taxis

I have yet to find a good way to inform drivers of vacant cabs on small residential streets at 1AM that you don't want a ride. If you ignore them it takes them forever to realize that you noticed them and are purposefully not responding. If you "wave them along" - yeah - I think we all know that doesn't work. Any form of waving will cause them to think you WANT to get in. That prettymuch leaves a) running at full speed away from them and b) throwing things at them - neither of which are particularly recommended.
